Saunders Boston Architects (SBA) has considerable expertise in the Retirement Living + Care sector. Based from Cambridge our specialist Architectural and Interior Design teams are delivering projects nationally for both privately and publically funded clients.

Our specialist team is headed by Darren Heffer (Director) who has over 20 years’ experience in the sector.

Over the past decade, specialist developments ranging in construction cost from £1m to £40m+, have included independent living, supported, sheltered and extra care housing with care. Bespoke solutions have been delivered for young and older persons living with various forms of physical and mental conditions.

Publically funded clients include Registered Providers, Local Authorities and Charities.

SBA is also working on a number of privately funded Retirement Living projects at the aspirational end of the market and CQC registered Care Homes, including residential, nursing and dementia care.

Darren Heffer is a member of the (eastern region) Housing Learning Improvement Network (HLIN) steering committee and has spoken at annual and regional  HLIN conferences. Darren also co-authored the Suffolk County Council Design and Management Guide for Very Sheltered Housing.

SBA is Affiliate members of the Association of Retirement Community Operators (ARCO) and also sits on an Extra Care Strategy Panel in the eastern region.
