SBA was appointed by the University to undertake the refurbishment of large sections of the Old Cavendish Laboratory Buildings to provide facilities for both the Sociology and Psychology Departments.
The buildings are Grade II listed and of international historic significance for science, therefore it was important to promote the heritage of the buildings and make the most of the spaces within them. The project provided high-quality office and teaching spaces within the existing estate with minimal intervention of spaces that were underused and in varying conditions, allowing them to conserve a significant heritage asset within Cambridge.
