The centre has achieved an Outstanding rating from Quest, Sport England and has been recognised by industry experts as one of the UK’s leading leisure facilities, placing it among just seven centres nationwide to receive this distinction.
Saunders Boston Architects collaborated with Pellikaan Construction to deliver the Rivermead Leisure Centre for Reading Borough Council and Greenwich Leisure Ltd.
Rivermead brings together extensive wet and dry facilities, including a regional 8-lane 25m pool, splash pad and flexible teaching and diving pool, alongside a 120-station gym, studios, sports hall, café and family spaces.
Working closely with the wider delivery team, SBA developed an affordable, high-quality design that meets Sport England’s technical standards while creating a lasting community asset for Reading. A real team achievement.
