Construction of £26m Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth to begin in coming weeks

Construction of £26m Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth to begin in coming weeks

Saunders Boston Architects are thrilled to be working with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Morgan Sindall, and Mace to complete the design and construction of an exciting new Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth in place of the now-demolished outdated facility on the Golden Mile.

This exciting new destination benefits the seafront and plays an important role for the community for the promotion of both indoor and outdoor activity.

The new facility includes a six-lane 25m pool with full disabled access and suitable for competitions and galas, a confidence water area and learner pool with moveable floor, leisure water with fun play features, two water flumes and a splash pad.

Site set-up and groundworks will begin in the next few weeks. Piling of the foundations will then start this winter, and the steel structure will go up in spring. Cladding will follow in summer, with the internal works and fit-out seeing the site user-ready by summer 2022.

The project is funded by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, plus £2.5m secured from the Government’s Getting Building Fund, via New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, £1.6m from Sport England, and £500,000 from Pooled Business Rates.
